Make money writing articles, e-books, blog posts and novellas. It really is as simple as A, B, C. If your writing standard is high enough you will be able to make more than just a salary from a job that is simply satisfying. Anything from 0 a day to – well if you’re successful, your potential earnings are limited only by your desire and energy.

The start of your journey is to create something. For me this was a blog site. For you this could be a blog site, an article directory, an e-book or even a novella or full blown novel. The choice is yours. Whatever your decision.

Make your product digital if possible. An e-book or kindle novella is my own personal favorite. (I am writing a gem at the moment. An e-book for the kindle. Shameless plug) The reason for this choice is the recent boom in kindle sales. A simple 15,000 or 25,0000 e-book for kindle can be sold for as little as .99 but can generate an almost unlimited amount of sales. The larger your back list of books the greater your chance of making sales.

If you are more interested in writing novellas the same points apply. Books in the YA category for example can be anything from 25,000 to 60,000 words. (This by the way is one of the single most profitable categories for sales on the kindle)

Package it well and get ready to sell it.

To sell effectively you need to set up a blog. I personally prefer to use a wordpress theme on my own hosting. You can do this or use a wordpress.org supported blog, a blogger.com or weblog.com supported blog. (which by the way are free)

Basic Article Marketing Will Sell Your Products

Some strategies are so simple that most people underestimate them and their power.For example one simple article on a site like Articlesbase can provide a massive boost to a site. Do this simple task on a daily basis and the leverage you gain can reach staggering proportions.

Obviously, it’s dating women who are interested in you is important. But have you ever wondered how to tell? If there are signs? There are. How To Not Attract A Woman – Things To Avoid When Dating

When you’re out and interested in meeting someone special, it can be daunting to approach someone who catches your eye. Many of us have insecurities to deal with, and none of us like the idea of instant rejection. There’s a lot of advice out there on how to get the woman of your dreams. Chat-up lines, for example. Contrary to popular belief, they have a rather low success rate. And those are just some mild examples of what people come up with. The result tends to be a roll of the eyes, soon followed by the cold shoulder.

Poetic attempts should be avoided when approaching a woman. Especially when you’re not a natural poet. But even if you’re very good at coming up with poetic descriptions, you’re not likely to get very positive results. The reason for this is that an approach of this kind doesn’t tend to feel genuine. Nobody likes false flattery.

Asking a woman to buy you a drink in exchange for your company might not get you the results you are after. Not only will you probably end up without a drink, but you’ll more likely than not find yourself a bit lonely. Yes, women enjoy equality. But we also like good manners. If you want to approach a woman, offering a drink is only polite. She might buy you one later on, if your company proves pleasant.

There’s nothing wrong with being confident. However, bragging about your success and material possessions is not the key to good communication. Some men have the impression that women are after a man with a lot of money, a fast car, and a high-flying career. It is true that some women might be after that, but the majority of us really don’t care. We’re looking for someone with a good personality, who’s kind and genuine and pleasant to talk with.

Being rude to a woman’s friends is a bad idea. If a friend of someone who interests you approaches you, and you make unpleasant comments to them, the whole group of friends will know, and you will be avoided. It’s a better idea to be polite and kind to all, even if you are not interested in them.

How then to approach a woman? It may sound like an overused statement, but just be yourself. If you do that, the woman who catches your attention will know who you are. That’s far better than putting on an act. Not everyone will return your interest, but at least you stand a far better chance of getting a conversation going. Who knows where that might lead?

Children Sleep Aids: Helpful Facts You Probably Don’t Know

You’ve tried all the usual ways to get your child to bed on time: sticking to a nightly routine; stopping them from eating and drinking well before bedtime, etc. However, none of these seem to work well so you’re caving in to the idea of getting a children sleep aid. Here are some facts that would encourage you. Facts you probably don’t know about how children sleep aids are being prescribed.

Pediatrics (May 2003), a medical journal, has an article that surveyed 671 pediatricians on when, why and what they actually prescribed or recommended prescription or over-the-counter sleep aids for children and adolescents.

When, Why and What Doctors Use Sleep Aids For Children

1. More than half of the pediatricians surveyed had prescribed sleeping pills to children at least once in the last six months. Apparently, your children are not the only ones having sleeping problems and the doctors recognize that.

2. About 55% of physicians said they prescribed sleeping medication to treat sleep problems in children to “provide the family with needed respite.” This includes the short-term use of over-the-counter medications for specific situations, such as travel, acute pain or stress.

75% of those paediatricians had recommended a non prescription sleep aid, including the antihistamine Benadryl. 25% of them recommended melatonin or other herbal remedy, such as chamomile teas and valerian root.

3. The other half of paediatricians said they used sleep medications in “special needs” children i.e. mental retardation, autism and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This usually requires long-term use of children sleep aids or medication like Tenex which is used as a sedative in kids with ADHD. The most commonly prescribed sleeping pills were alpha-agonists. One brand name is Calapres, a hypertension drug for adults that has sedating properties.

4. Lastly, it must be noted that most of the paediatricians interviewed said they prescribed the children sleep aids “in combination with behavioral treatments.” So, sleep hygiene and techniques are still just as important as having effective sleep aids for kids.

Two Common Sleep Problems in Young Children

Behavioral treatments must go hand in hand with any children sleep aid because many children have childhood behavioral insomnia. This sleep disorder involves one or both of the two following problems:

1. Sleep-onset association

Everyone wakes up briefly a few times at night especially during the stage of sleep called rapid eye movement (REM) when our dreams occur. Usually, we are unaware of these awakenings and return to sleep quickly.

As for young children, they may cry when they wake up. Parents naturally “help” their child return to sleep by feeding, rocking, holding or lying down with their child.

The child learns to connect or “associate” going to sleep with a person or activity. She is unable to fall asleep on her own when that action is missing.

2. Limit-setting problems

Your child refuses to go to bed, stalls, or makes it hard for you to leave the bedside. Usually begins from the age of two, limit-setting problems can occur at bedtime, nap time, or when your child wakes up during the night.

It can be hard but you need to discern what’s real and what’s simply a delay tactic. They may ask for one more hug, a tissue, a drink of water, another story, to have the light turned off or on, or to “tell you something important.

You need to be firm and consistent about the time for bed even if the child disagrees or seems active and alert. Don’t give in to them as it will only encourage the behavior. Children thrive within well-defined environments. Hence, the need for limits or boundaries to their sleep habits.

Speed Reading Tactics: What Happens in Your Mind When You Read?

There is no such thing as speed reading without comprehension. This has to be stated boldly.  A common complaint I get when people have tried speed reading in the past is that they are able to speed up their pass through the material, but their comprehension suffers. There are various reasons for this to happen, but the fact is, if you don’t understand anything in the material, then reading is not taking place. How do we unlock the mystery of our mind’s workings, especially when speed reading?

Speed reading is a vastly popular keyword internet search term with several million searches per month. Many people want to discover how to do this vital information management skill today. However, before someone learns to speed read, it might be helpful to take a step back and observe something that is taken for granted. When you read, whether it is speedy or not, what does your mind do? If you take it for granted, you might be able to move through print quickly, but then you probably won’t comprehend well.

Reading, whether it is done with speed or not, is comprehension, or understanding the material. In order to understand the material, you have to consider your mind’s experience. As a brain trainer, I have come to understand that being aware of our thoughts is generally taken for granted. Either we’re fantasizing the future, or we are reliving the past. True conscious awareness escapes most of us most of the time.

Let’s forget about speed reading for a moment and just consider what does your mind do when you read? If you are like most people your mind is probably not present to what the print symbolizes. Your mind races ahead. Or, it wanders off into some other task that you should be considering. Or, perhaps you are remembering some pleasurable event that you’d like to be reliving, rather than paying attention to the task at hand. Or, any number of things could be occupying that mental space other than considering the print in front of you.

It should be noted that most people suffer from this at almost all times of their waking day. Focus and concentration is a precious resource that is scarce in today’s busy world. Workplaces are abuzz with phones, pagers, cell phones, people dropping in, etc. Distraction is the norm.

Lack of focus and concentration is one of the biggest complaints I get from prospective learners. Try this experiment. Take something that you want to read. Hard paper copy is best for this experiment. Limit yourself to one page. Read the page. Count how many times your mind wanders off from where you are on the page.

Now for the good news! The brain/mind is a powerful tool that can be trained. You can train yourself to focus and concentrate better, both generally and specifically for reading. In fact, within a couple hours of speed reading training, most learners will see significant results in their ability to concentrate while reading.

Speed reading can improve your reading concentration. One of the reasons the mind wanders while reading has to do with what is called mind speed versus reading speed. If you are a slow reader, mind wandering is a natural result. Your mind’s processing speed is exponentially faster than the average reading speed of around 250 words per minute. Some brain researchers have even estimated the brain’s processing speed to be between 80,000 to 120,000 words per minute! Wow! Think of that! How fast do you read? What’s the mind supposed to do if you’re reading at an average speed?

Unfortunately many speed reading programs focus merely on the speed of moving the eyes faster and more efficiently. Yes, the eyes do need to move faster and more efficiently. But, the mind needs to stay along for the ride. What do you do to get the mind involved as well?

The short answer is to pay attention and think about what you are seeing. Make connections amongst the symbols on the page. Ask questions of the material. Constantly ask yourself as you are moving your eyes, “what’s this about?” Reading comprehension is the mind’s response to the print whether you read fast, or whether you read slowly.
